Game Workshop:

Beatitudes 4 & 5 : Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.

A shoe game help children focus on shoes. A shoe survey helps them to realize how many shoes they own. After plotting their own shoe ownership on a bar graph, children learn the disturbing fact that 300 million children in the world do not have shoes. Putting Jesus' beatitude in action, children participate in a shoe drive to collect shoes for children and adults around the world.

Science Workshop

Beatitude 6: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Children learn that God wants their hearts to be pure and God centered. Children experiment with glass mason jar by adding ingredients representing good works and actions in it. A second experiment has them reexamining their glass jars filled with good works. They discover they left no room for God in jars. They experiment recording the ingredients in the jar by putting the largest ingredient God first followed by the remaining and amazingly they all fit.

Peace Walk and Workshop

Beatitude 7 : Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God.

Children learn God wants them to be active and work for peace. They receive a Peace key ring tag as they begin a Peace Walk. They learn that their tag is special because it grows and grows in value each time it is used and they work for peace. They go through stations in this workshop as they learn about working for peace in family, daily life, community and the world.
